Creating Multi-Language Surveys

You can translate and run a single survey in 70+ languages, allowing you to collect responses and analyze the results all in one place.

TIP! For surveys with many languages, translation is more efficient using a mass translate template.

Adding Languages to Your Survey

There is no limit on how many languages you can add to a survey. Adding a language will allow you to translate all survey questions and text into that language and give respondents the option to take the survey in that language.

To add a new language to a survey:

  1. Select a survey and click the Edit icon edit icon.
  2. Click the English drop down in the upper right of your survey and select Manage Languages.
  3. Click + Add a Language and select the language you want to add.

Languages you added are listed at the bottom of the Manage Languages pop up. You can delete languages by clicking the red x shown when you hover over the language.

Changing the Default Language

The default language displays to respondents who visit the main deploy link, and respondents are given an option to choose another language. English is automatically the default language for all multi-language surveys.

To change the default language:

  1. Click the language drop down in the upper right of your survey and select Manage Languages.
  2. Click the desired default language.

NOTE: Respondents using a language-specific deploy link see the language their link specifies rather than the default language, and they’re given an option to choose another language.

Setting Language Selection Display Options

Respondents are given the option to choose between languages in the upper-right corner of multi-language surveys. This choice can be displayed as a drop-down menu or radio buttons.

To choose a display option:

  1. Select a survey and click the Edit icon edit icon.
  2. Click the languages drop down in the upper right of your survey and select Manage Languages.
  3. From the Display as drop down, select either Radio Buttons or Dropdown Menu.
Translating Question Text

Translate question text using the same interface you use to create a survey by toggling between survey languages.

To toggle between languages:

  1. After adding all questions and pages you want in your survey in English, click the language drop down in the upper right of your survey.
  2. Select the language to translate.
  3. Work your way through the survey, translating all question text, descriptions, and titles.
Only edit your survey’s structure while in English mode. Adding a question to a survey while editing in another language will add the question for all languages, but question text will not be added to any other language.
Translating Pages/Messages

All survey buttons, warnings, page text, notifications, and error messages can be translated. For a full list of page elements, see: Editing Page & Button Text, Errors, and Warning Messages
