The file upload question type lets you ask respondents to upload a file. Links to uploaded files are available in the responses section.

To set up a file upload question:

  1. Drag and drop a file upload question from the Advanced Questions section of the palette to the canvas.
  2. Phrase your question in the Question Title and optionally add an Extra Description.
  3. If you want to make the question required, uncheck Optional in the question’s Options settings.
  4. Configure Display settings for the question. See below for details.
  5. Save your survey.

Display

Display side-by-sideDisplays the question on one half of the screen. In order for two questions to display side-by-side, you’ll have to enable this option for both questions. The first question will be on the left and the second on the right.
Append to previous questionUse this to make this question appear as if it’s part of the previous question.
Extra ClassesAdvanced option to define classes for custom javascript or CSS.
 

Accessing Uploaded Files

Files uploaded through the Upload File question type can be:

  • Accessed via a link for each response
  • Exported into a zip file

To access files by link per response:

  1. Select the response icon response icon from the left toolbar.
  2. Add your upload question to the responses table by selecting it from the Columns drop down. This will add a column to the table with containing the uploaded file’s name.
  3. Click on a response in the table. In the response details the file upload question includes a link to the file the respondent uploaded.

To export uploaded files:

  1. Select the response icon response icon from the left toolbar.
  2. If you want to export file associated with specific responses, select those responses from the response list. If you are going to be exporting all files from all responses, skip this step.
  3. Click the Export Responses button in the upper left corner of the page.
  4. Click Files (beta) as your Export Format.
  5. If you are exporting all, leave that selected, otherwise select the Selected button for Responses.
  6. Click Download. A zip file containing all uploaded files will download.
